Wanted to leave some feedback for Jeff. We worked with Jeff and stayed at the Pono Kai in Kauai. Not only did he answer my multitude of questions but was so patient. With scammers getting very cleaver, I was very slow to commit. We had an incredible time at his condo. The spot was perfect, right on the ocean, clean and well appointed. I would encourage anyone to work with Jeff. We will definitely work with him again.
I love it when I get emails back from guests staying at the Pono Kai. Laurie sent me some pictures and she liked it so much she is returning again this year. Here are a few of her pictures from paradise.
Last year we went to Maui for two weeks before heading to the Pono Kai. One thing my wife really wanted to do was go Paragliding off Haleakala. There are two videos below of her experience. She absolutely loved it. I had my two feet firmly planted on the ground the whole time, :) The first video is the one she took while gliding and the second one was my view from the ground. We stopped at Keoki's Paradise for lunch and had to finish with a Hula Pie. The slice was huge and we shared it. It's an ice cream pie coated in a thick chocolate. Topped with whipped cream. Keoki's Is on the south side about 45 minutes from the Pono Kai. If your on a budget stop for lunch. The prices are more reasonable. Everything is top notch and the ambiance can't be beat. Kauai has many beaches that are truly gems. Shipwreck Beach is one of those gems. Located on the south side, it seems like an oasis. We like this beach so much, we chose it for the spot for our vow renewal. It has a nice balance of sun and shade so you can get on island time and relax.
We took the tour of the Coco Palms resort on our last trip. That place is so full of history. We had a great time. The first picture is if the famous lagoon that Elvis got married on in the movie "Blue Hawaii". The last picture is of the bungalow that Elvis always stayed in while he was there. The picture shows the closet with the secret door that could be used to go to the bungalow next to it. For those of you who don't know, the Coco Palms was heavily damaged by hurricane Inki in 1992. There were many problems along the way and it was never rebuilt but after many long years it has been approved and financing has been secured to bring it back to it's former glory. I can't wait to return to see the progress being made on this iconic property. I want to thank Rosie who sent me this picture of the familiar Hanalei Bay Pier. As you can see the ocean conditions were dangerous. Rosie said the pictures don't do the situation justice. The photo was taken on 1-23-14. Rosie just sent me this photo of the view from her lanai this morning. She was at the Pono Kai this week. There have been high surf warnings and the waves were something to see. Like she said "Mother Nature is awesome". There are so many great Beaches on Kauai but this one is really unique. It has a lot of glass that the waves beat down over time and make into smooth pebbles. Some call it glass sand. One thing about Kauai's beaches is that they are not all well marked. Sometimes you know your close to one of them because there are a lot of cars parked along the road. Had a great time at the Pono Kai again this year. We have our 2014 trip all planned for our 30th anniversary in October. Had some great stops on Kauai and will be post about them on the blog. The Pono Kai has done a great job keeping the resort in good condition. They added lifts for people with disabilities so they can use the pool and hot tub. I really nice addition. I will post a picture in a future post. If anyone has a question about the resort or the island, just post here and I'll be happy to answer. The above picture was the view from our lanai of our two bedroom unit, C207. |
