Been here a week and still have a week to go.😄 We're in F303 a two bedroom loft unit. The photos are from the lanai. We hit some new places and some old favorites. I'll be posting about those in the future.

We started packing today. I'll be leaving work early on Tuesday so we can get to the air port. This is our first trip that we will be able to pick up our tote that we stored in Kauai so we don't have to pack as much stuff every time. We have a few things we will be adding to the tote but I already notice we are traveling much lighter. Storing the tote is turning out to be a great idea. We'll be getting in a little late on this trip. Should be at the resort by 8pm. Just in time to stop off for some take out at L&L Hawiaian BBQ. 😄 Then we'll checkin, eat and hit the sack to get on island time. We have a few hikes planned and we'll head to Anini for some snorkeling. We have a few new attachments for my wife's new GoPro so we hope to post some great pictures. We'll probably take a boat tour this year, maybe the one near Niihau. Carol went to the Pono Kai for the first time in February. I'm happy she took the time to send me the following message. Sounds like she had a great time. Hi Jeff: wanted to send a big thank you your way for allowing us to rent your timeshare at PonoKai. It ended up being the perfect location. We rode bikes everyday or walked. Rarely got in the car except for a trip to north shore, Waimea canyon and an anniversary dinner at Duke’s in Poipu. It was awesome being so close to old historic Kapa’a town. So many great places - Olympic cafe, Mermaid cafe, Kauai Juice Bar, Hoku organic grocery store, Java Kai. . We also loved Verde for mexican food and Pho Kapaa for Vietnamese. I had no trouble finding vegetarian options. Everyone at the resort was so helpful. The activities person there set us up on a kayak trip and our favorite was Captain Andy’s 4-hour catamaran dinner cruise up the NaPali coast. Amazing trip and an awesome company. Thank you again. I hope I can return some day soon so I hope you are still doing rentals! Aloha, Carol We've been hearing a lot about the fresh pies from The Right Slice so we had to find them on this trip. They are in Lihue at 1543 Haleukana Street, Lihue, HI 96766. They are kind of in the middle of nowhere but it is worth the trip. Like a lot of places on Hawaii , the place is nothing to look at and kind of a hole in the wall but we are starting to see this is part of the charm of these places. They have a great selection of fruit and cream pies as whole pies or by the slice. I loved the lilikoi!!! You may also find them at events around the island selling their fresh pies. On our last trip in October we made a trip to Hanalei and we stopped out to see the new pier. This was our first trip since they replaced the cover on the pier. It's a great spot to sit and relax and take in the island beauty. It's great to see the waterfalls in the surrounding mountains. There are many great artifacts and stories to be found at the Kauai museum. It will take you back in time with some great history of the island of Kauai. Sometimes it hard to do an indoor activity when the weather outside is beautiful but if you like history, any day is a great day to visit. The people who work there are great and you will feel the aloha spirit as soon as you talk to them. They have a passion for Kauai that comes out when you talk to them. It is a highly reccommended visit. While on Kauai, it's always nice to get off the beaten path and you'll be rewarded with some great sites. The fishpond is a really nice site that isn't crowded and it's easy to find. There are many drive up sites like this on Kauai. The App for my website blog is finally back up so I can post more from my last visit at the Pono Kai. The above pictures were taken from my lanai just before hurricane Anne was going by Kauai. This guy was out there from a couple hours going back and forth. He was really going fast most of the time. It was fun watching him and he never fell over. We stopped in Lihue to go to the Kauai Beer Company. It's only about 20 minutes from the Pono Kai. They don't open until 3pm and it's a real popular place with great brews that they brew right there. We got this 64oz growler of Lihue Lager and took it back and enjoyed it while sitting out on our lanai. The growler is stainless steel and you can refill it for about $8 or $9 depending on what type of beer you want. Try them on your next trip.
